2013 Urban Seniors Championship results

This year's VFBV Urban State Championships drew 600 competitors in 70 teams, including several from Western Australia and one from Melbourne’s MFB.

The VFBV Gold Star and Brigade Life Member Jewel have been re-designed to a court mounted style, which ensures CFA and VFBV awards are the same length when worn in the correct position above the pocket.

Volunteers Mourn Loss Of Fellow Firefighter

Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria is deeply saddened to learn of the death of a volunteer fire-fighter from Gisborne Fire Brigade at the scene of a house fire in Gisborne early this morning.

Despite fellow members attempting first aid after he was found unconscious at the scene around 0130hrs, and advance life support being provided by paramedics upon their arrival, he was unfortunately unable to be revived.

February 7th, will mark the 4th anniversary of Black Saturday, and February 16th will mark the 30th Anniversary of Ash Wednesday. Both are reminders that our finest hour can also be a time of terrible loss.

VFBV is conscious that the anniversaries have strong meaning for many of us in the emergency services, and that meaning can be as individual as the people experiencing it.

Saturday 16 February marks the 30th Anniversary of the devastating Ash Wednesday fires of 1983.

Although it took place a generation ago, Ash Wednesday still has great significance for many of us in the emergency services, not least because it took the lives of a number of CFA firefighters.
